This one is probably the most important and I’ll explain why.
Your current reality i.e. your current results – income, leads, satisfaction, impact, etc are due to your current programming.
What do I mean by your programming?
Your programming includes all of the perceptions, emotions, attitudes, actions, habits, behaviours, and most importantly BELIEFS up to this point.
If you really want to upgrade your results then you need to upgrade your programming. One of the most transformational ways to do this is to change your beliefs around you, your business, and the world around you.
You see, beliefs can either empower & push us to achieve massive goals and dreams or they can limit us and force us to remain small and hidden in the dark.
The big problem with beliefs is that we don’t know we have them. Why? Well, we’ve had this programming our entire lives! We believe it to be ‘true’ so we never stop to question if they are right or wrong.
How does this affect your prices?
Well, you will receive EXACTLY what you believe you are worth. To the penny.
If you don’t believe in yourself, you’ll struggle to make sales.
If you don’t believe in your product, you’ll struggle to make sales.
If you don’t believe in your client, you’ll struggle to make sales.
Limiting beliefs will infect everything you do. Not just in your business, but in all areas of life.
So what limiting beliefs are holding you back?
1. “If I charge too much then the client will resent me”
This one is based on scarcity and fear.
This simply isn’t true but it holds you back. You think that if you charge less for your products & services then somehow the client is getting a better deal.
But let’s look at this more closely… If you charge too little, do you think the client is going to put in the work?
Do you think they are really going to be committed to taking the action necessary to succeed?
This is the big myth many in the entrepreneurial space.
In fact, the opposite is true.
When you charge a premium price you attract clients who not only are committed to doing the work but clients who appreciate the value you are providing them. They’ll take the work more seriously and therefore they’ll be more likely to succeed.
In fact, charging less would actually be a disservice.
2. “If I charge more I’ll have to deliver more.”
Sometimes we feel that in order to warrant a higher price for our product or service it must mean that we need to deliver more value. Therefore we think that we must: – Spend more time with the client – Give them more features – Throw in additional bonuses – Check in with them every day – More, more, more. Well, again, the opposite is true.
When you know what problem you’re solving for the client and you’re focusing on that result then you’re giving them exactly what they want. They don’t want the ‘bells and whistles. They just want the result. So deliver it. This is a game of simplification, not complication.
3. “I’m not [insert limiting belief] enough”
This is the one we hear most often.
“I am not good enough”
“I am not successful enough”
“I am not rich enough”
“I am not intelligent enough”
“I am not experienced enough”
The bottom line is you don’t feel like you’re enough.
Again, this is nothing more than a fabrication of the mind. I’m sure you can think of tonnes of people who know less, have less, and do less than you but still achieve much better results, am I right?
Why not you? There is no simple formula here. This has nothing to do with the price or the quality of your product or service. It has everything to do with what you think of yourself when you’re by yourself.
Let’s get our hands dirty.
In this exercise, we’re going to begin shifting your limiting beliefs around raising your prices. Often we have this internal limiting belief that raising our prices means that the client is going to miss out but as we know that isn’t true.
Step 1: Think of 10+ ways that raising your prices is going to benefit your client (in fact when I did this I did over 100 different ways, so the more the better!).
Step 2: Think of 10+ ways that raising your price is going to benefit you and your family.
This one is an easier question but don’t forget to think about all 7 areas of life – money, business, health, mindset, relationships, social influence, spirituality.
Step 3: List 10+ drawbacks to you and the client if you don’t raise your prices.
Here we are looking at the other side of the coin and identifying how by not increasing our prices we are doing them a disservice.
